Task６

Career Education and Green Job Development

Rural areas face many challenges, such as labor shortages due to the outflow of young people to cities. With society now embracing new work styles like telecommuting in the wake of COVID-19, building mechanisms to secure young workers in local communities has become crucial. It is also important to share awareness of which jobs are needed locally and their significance, and to foster a job market where green jobs adapted to the local natural environment are chosen as guiding values in career decisions. This R&D task aims to promote the “greening” of existing local jobs and solidify that concept, while also creating new jobs. To do so, we will establish co-creative educational spaces to cultivate future talent as part of an ecosystem that supports green jobs development.

Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University

Ms. Mitsuhashi began her career as a freelance systems engineer in 2001, working on projects for pharmaceutical companies, financial institutions, manufacturers, and telecommunications companies. In 2015, she joined Tohoku University’s Graduate School of Environmental Studies, where she focused on sustainable and enriched lifestyles, and the transformation of values. In 2020, she founded the NPO Smart Environmental Solutions Research Institute and became its Executive Director. She also established the LLC Cocoroyutaka. Her work includes supporting community development projects for local governments and environmental education in high schools, contributing to social implementation of her research.
